Why we celebrate International Yoga Day?

World Yoga Day is celebrated every year to make people aware about Yoga and to tell them about its benefits.  Doing yoga is very important for everyone, it gives us long life.  Therefore, every year on the occasion of Yoga Day, people are made aware to do yoga.

History of Yoga

The idea of celebrating International Yoga Day was first given by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi first talked about celebrating Yoga Day in his speech in the United Nations General Assembly.  His proposal was accepted by the General Assembly and on 11 December 2014, 177 countries signed this resolution, after which International Yoga Day was celebrated for the first time on 21 June 2015.

The first Yoga Day was celebrated on 21 June 2015.

Yoga gives us a long life and keeps us fit.  It also protects us from many types of diseases.  We do not get diseases by doing yoga.

June 21st is the longest day of the year.  Yoga day is celebrated on this day because yoga also gives us long life.

By doing yoga, we do not have mental stress and we always feel good.  It also keeps us physically fit.

Doing yoga is necessary for everyone, be it children or adults.  That is why we all should do yoga and should inspire others to do yoga as well.
